The QualGroup Story
QualGroup's story began in 2014 when our founders, Vijo Madappilly Jose and Riya Cherian, brought their backgrounds in nursing, infection prevention and infection control into the cleaning industry. Together, they have more than 20 years of combined healthcare experience, which continues to inform QualGroup's approach to professional cleaning.

Knowing the importance of clean and hygienic environments in promoting overall health, staff morale, family wellbeing, and illness prevention, they were surprised that these standards weren't widely available beyond healthcare settings. Kiwis spend a large proportion of their waking hours at work and value healthy, comfortable homes, yet higher cleaning standards were not the norm. Recognising this gap in the market, Vijo and Riya founded QualGroup in 2014 as a division of Quality Service Solutions Ltd. with the mission of bringing healthcare-inspired, hospital-grade cleaning standards to workplaces and homes across New Zealand. Our proprietary High-Performance Cleaning (HPC) Methodology ensures every environment is cleaned, sanitised, and maintained to consistently high standards.
As QualGroup continued to grow, we discovered that the quality of training cleaners receives across the industry is often inconsistent. To ensure our team consistently performs to the highest standards, we established the QualClean Academy in 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic. This gives you complete confidence that the professionals entering your workplace or home are trained in healthcare-inspired cleaning principles, industry best practices, quality assurance, and safety procedures, delivering every service with professionalism, care, and attention to detail.
From our humble beginnings as a two-member team, we have grown to more than 30 staff, providing efficient and effective commercial and residential cleaning services to more than 50 businesses every day and earning the trust of over 100 organisations. Customers choose QualGroup because we are locally based, have skilled trainers and highly trained cleaning professionals, deliver consistently high-quality cleaning services, and give them peace of mind to focus on their priorities without worrying about cleaning.
